The bonus of picking up the expense of rebuilding after a natural disaster falls on the government vs. insurers because many assessed risks are based on obsolete data rather than keeping up with the numbers supporting climate change. With storms becoming more deadly and their associated costs growing astronomically, many insureds are under insured necessitating the need for government assistance. US insures have been hampered in their need to adjust to global warming because it is too highly politicized. We need to let the numbers speak for themselves in order to better prepare.
