The first time the World Trade Tower was hit, in 1993, it took 4 hours for Morgan Stanley to evacuate their employees. From that unnerving experience, a security team was put in place to develop a plan of evacuation going forward that would be practiced over and over again until it became second nature to all. This plan paid off big time when on 9/11 it took a little over an hour to get more than 2600 employees and 250 visitors out of the burning building. This story is a perfect example of how having a disaster plan in place that is well-rehearsed is the best way to up your chances of surviving it.
