As of 2016, despite experiencing more than one data breach, business owners were still complacent about cyber security. Of those that did have a plan, they never reviewed it, and that is no different today with many disaster plans gathering dust on a shelf.  While companies still feel the burden of the high cost of cyber protection, the cost of not having protections in place can be much greater. Considering the legal costs of breached data and lost sales from business interruption, the risks far outweigh the high cost of adequate cyber protection. Security breaches can wipe out an entire business in an astonishing short time.
